We have a 17 Month Old!
What is going on in Lennox’s world?
Words: She is saying so much — she is none stop gibber jabber… some of her most used words that are different from our last update are: No – She says no to the most random things, so she doesn’t seem to really understand the word, but she says it! She says BABY all the time, to us and her toys/baby doll. Bye, Hi, Wawa, All done, Uh oh so sad, Elmo (She LOVES elmo more than anything in the world right now it seems), Pizza although I think she is meaning People.
Favorite toys: She loves her Elmo phone, Baby Minnie with Blanket that we got her in Florida and her baby doll. She still loves her cozy coupe. She has a fisher price piano that she loves to play with and her ball popper.
What makes her laugh: Lots but always tickles, swirling around in a circle, dancing, funny faces and peek a boo. She usually will laugh if you make a goofy grin at her too.
Clothing size: 18 months, some 24 month/2T.
Shoe size: 4/5 still – she has small feet which makes it difficult!
Favorite Foods: Mac & Cheese, Banana, Goldfish, Strawberries, Tomato, Cheese – these havent changed much actually. She will eat about anything though.
Favorite Drink: Milk, Water, some juice. She thinks soda is funny too.
Number of Teeth: We went from 8 on our last update to 11 now. She has 8 front teeth and 3 molars.
Milestones: We are in the beginning stages of potty training although we pretty much have NO idea what we are doing! She picked out a potty at BuyBuyBaby — elmo of course. We put her on it from time to time, but she hasn’t gone yet. She tells us when she has to go poopoo, but she never goes in the potty – usually about 10 minutes later. Apparently with Montessori school, they learn fast, so i’m hoping thats the case. I’m ready to be done with diapers! Hmm.. What else, she is pretty much running everywhere now, talking a ton, she got the dreaded daycare virus, hand foot mouth — that was fun, even mommy got it!
She is as silly as can be. Her hair is getting so long, so now she shakes her head from side to side to feel her hair flying all over the place – she will go on and on until she gets too dizzy. Here is a cute video of that:

As some of you may or may not have heard, we unexpectedly lost our child care situation 
. So with this news, as upsetting as it was, we had to begin the daycare hunt for Lennox again. We never really had done any looking around since we knew we wanted her to go to the home daycare that she was in. This also meant, we had no idea where to even start! So we canvased the area, I must have gone to over 20 daycares this past week. Tours, Information, Tuition Prices Galore! We found that private preschools and daycares pretty much cost exactly the same. We decided that a school atmosphere would be better for lennox. If i’m going to pay this much everyweek, she mine as well be learning more than just playing and being babysat. We came to the final conclusion to put her into a Montessori school not far from our home. I hadn’t really considered Montessori in the past, but my nephew will be starting at one in January and my college roommate is a Montessori teacher, so I had been hearing lots about it and the benefits.
After checking out the school near us, we both knew this was the best place for Lennox. The facility is brand new, super clean, calm, almost serene. Its so different than a big daycare center, but I think that Lennox will learn a lot while being there and she will be in a good mix of age groups. Her class is 18months to 3 years, rather than just being grouped with all the 18-24month olds. Lennox LOVES being with big kids, so I know she’ll eat that right up!
We went back with her on Friday so she could meet her teachers and new classmates. At first all she wanted to do was the works stations, which was not what everyone else was doing but after a bit she got the hang of it. She put her toys back herself, she cleaned up her snack herself, she washed her hands herself; it was all pretty neat to watch. She will be going back for a bit on Monday and Tuesday and then starting for real the Monday after Thanksgiving. I think she is going to do really well there and if what everyone tells us is true, she will really start being able to do a lot more things for herself and become part of the little community.
Before we start, we have a list of things to get her, which includes her uniform clothes. It’s really hard to find uniforms for toddlers, especially this time of year. If it was summer, it would be much easier! After searching and searching, we finally found a local consignment store that also carried new school uniforms. Although they didn’t have a huge selection in 2T, we were able to get 5 outfits, so she at least has 1 for each day right now! She is going to look super cute in her uniform – thats for sure!

30 Days of Thanks :: Day 15, 16 & 17
Day 15: I’m thankful for the home that we have. There are so many things I still want to do around the house, but i’m lucky to have such a nice home, in such a great neighborhood to raise Lennox in.
Day 16: I’m thankful for finally finding a new school for Lennox! I hope she will be happy there!
Day 17: I’m thankful for a silly child! She spilt a while glass of milk… and instead of getting upset, coming to get me, etc. I look over and she is standing in the middle of it playing in it. So now I had a milk covered child, milk covered floor! Guess who will be washing the floor tonight after the little one goes to bed! *raises hand*
The Christmas Season is Almost Upon Us!
So Sarah over at Nurse Loves Farmer and Jess from I Rock So What did this and I thought it would be fun to join in like everyone else It’s time to get in the christmas turkey. I know, we are suppose to respect the Turkey, and don’t worry – I’ll eat plenty on thanksgiving, but really, for me, thanksgiving is the kick off of Christmas! I grew up always watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade and I can’t wait to show it to Lennox this year. We’ll be on the lookout for the Elmo balloon float — she is OBSESSED!
And here is the fun questions:
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Well, I love both, but you can have Hot Chocolate any time of the year, Egg Nog is for Christmas. As a kid, my dad and I would have a celebratory first glass of egg nog in fancy glasses.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa always wrapped up his gifts for me, and so far he has done the same for Lennox.
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? On the tree – colored on our family tree, white on the fancy tree (yes we have two– actually 3 last year), outside we have White.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope.
5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually right after Thanksgiving or around December 1st.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Roast Beast! Jello Fruit Salad my grandmother always made was always my favorite as a kid. Now I love Roast Beast and Sweet Potatos with Marshmellow.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Coming down in the morning to see all the gifts was always exciting. I also remember going on the train ride around christmas time with my parents.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I figured out another figure, I think the easter bunny and then put it all together and asked my mom.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? No, unless we are seeing family then that we won’t see the next day.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We have a tree in our living room that has fun ornaments on it and it has colored lights. Its 6 or 7 feet tall. Then we have a 12 foot tree that is in our foyer, which has white lights and red and gold balls with ribbon and poinsettias.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE IT!
12. Can you ice skate? I can, but I haven’t in a long time.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Hmmm… I don’t know what my favorite has been. I remember getting a bike as a kid, that was exciting. And then, I don’t remember getting it but I know it was a favorite – My baby talk doll with Crib and Highchair. See babytalk here:

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with family. Now that there are little kids around, it’s even better!
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Hmmm.. I don’t know – I love all the Christmas cookies and candies!
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Bringing Lennox to see Santa, watching old christmas movies and cartoons, and driving around and looking at christmas lights.
17. What tops your tree? An angel.
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving? I love both!
19. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? I like them, but I only eat them for a few minutes and get bored. I like them in candies/cookies and in hot chocolate!
20. Favorite Christmas show? Love Charlie Brown Christmas, The Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation and Elf!
21. Saddest Christmas Song? The one about the boy getting his mom some shoes — what is the name? It’s depressing.
22. What is your favorite Christmas song? Rockin’ around the christmas tree — I have liked it since I saw Home Alone!
30 Days of Thanks :: Day 13 & 14
Day 13: I’m thankful for helpful neighbors! They have been helpful and encouraging while i’m going through the process of trying to find a new daycare for Lennox (more on that to come). With them all having older kids than Lennox, they have some helpful information to share with us! Thanks
Day 14: I’m thankful for the things we get to do together. Tonight we get to go see ICE! at the Gaylord Texan with Kyle’s mom and sister-in-law. We have been able to go for the past 4 years for cheap or free – which is much better than the $25 or $30 they usually charge! Lennox went last year and was great at it, I hope she loves it even more this year – pictures to come!
30 Days of Thanks :: Day 12
Day 12: Today I’m thankful for SLEEP! I can’t wait to go to bed, but I have to finish up some work first. Sorry – somewhat lame, but that is all I could think of at the moment. It’s been an eventful few days, and i’m just exhausted and somewhat sick Hope for a better one tomorrow :-p
