Gator Huntin’

by Heather

I’m finally getting around to blogging about our recent vacation – our cruise!! Before we got to the cruise part of our trip, we had a day in Florida. We got to Florida on Friday morning to stay with our friends Karen & Brian. They live very close to the cruise port, so it worked out great! On the way back to their home on Cocoa Beach we made a split second decision to go on an airboat ride to hunt down some gators. This place was straight out of a movie. Out in the middle of nowhere we found our selves at an old bar with a dock in the back. We signed up for our trip and awaited our airboat.

Since Florida has been having lots of rain lately, the water was very high so we didn’t know if we would see much but we got to see a few gators, birds, and BUGS (yuck!). Kyle got to experience the bugs too…the boat brushed up against some bushes at high speed and he got a lot of ant passengers on him! Thankfully he didn’t get all bitten up.

Later that day we got to see Cocoa Village, which was a quant little town – reminded me of back home on the cape. After lunch we got to cocoa beach where we sat in the back yard of Karen & Brian’s home to do some manatee and dolphin watching! Let me tell you – you could get used to this! It was beautiful! We saw some manatees swim by and a pair of dolphins (a baby and it’s mama). Saturday morning we got to go out on the canoe too and see more manatees! We also learned that water sports are not something Kyle and I should do together!!!

Kyle also got to go surfing for the first time with Brian. I opted to sleep in on my first day of vacation, but Karen went down later and got a few photos.

More to come on our vacation soon!

Finally: Philadelphia Trip Photos!

LOVE

I’m finally getting around to posting our pictures and telling you about our family trip to Philadelphia (just in time for us to leave on another trip!). We had a great time in Philadelphia. We headed up there for a the wedding of Jon & Crystal! We were joined by 3 Aunts, 2 Uncles and 3 Cousins + plus the future newlyweds! Even though we had a whirlwind weekend trying to see and do everything we wanted to do – we managed to get most everything in and attend all the wedding festivities!

We arrived on Thursday morning – after getting up at 3:30am and heading to the airport. THAT was an interesting morning…after parking the car, taking the shuttle to the airport and checking in, Kyle realized he had forgotten his garment bag that had his SUIT in it! One of the most important items we were bringing with us. Panicing and trying to figure out what we were going to do, we called our next door neighbor at 5am! We owe her forever and ever, because she got up, got into our house and drove it to the airport within a half our of us taking off!! Ugh!! We will never forget a bag again after that! If you are reading this Dana, I know i’ve said it a 100 times already but THANK YOU! YOU ARE THE BEST NEIGHBOR EVER! As a side note – it really is great to have a bunch of good neighbors :)

Anyway, we got to Philly after 2 flights (which Lennox did great on!) and headed towards the town we were staying in (About 20 minutes outside of downtown Philadelphia). We pretty much just hung around that day until we had a family dinner in the evening. That was night #1 of Lennox being up WAY past her bedtime (9:30/10ish).

Friday, Lennox slept in until 9, which meant, we got to sleep in until 9 (woooo!) and then we headed out with the fam to do the necessary sightseeing around Philadelphia. We crammed a good amount of stuff into 1 half day. Considering we may never be back, we wanted to make sure we saw the highlights. We went to the old city hall, independence hall, the liberty bell, LOVE park, saw the rocky steps from a distance, current city hall area and had a Philly Cheesesteak at Geno’s.

Independence Hall & Old City Hall (under construction -- of course!)

Liberty Bell

You have to have your picture taken with the LOVE sculpture -- this was WAY smaller than expected! PS- check out Lennox's face!

Our little traveler!

After doing all of our sightseeing – we headed back for Kyle to go to rehearsal and then off to the rehearsal dinner. Lennox looked too cute in her little Black & Silver sweater dress :)

Weeee... life is good!

Check out my pink car!

Happy Happy Girl!

Cousin Mack & Lennox - she just loves him!

Then on Saturday it was WEDDING time! Of course, Lennox did not make it through the service (full mass) so we spent most of the time outside in the church garden. At least this time I saw the bride walk down the aisle and I saw Kyle do his reading – which was our cue to leave when Lennox started yelling out DADA! DADA! DADA! The ceremony was beautiful, the weather was great and then it was a great party after!

We had a cocktail hour out on the porch:

Then we went inside to see the newlyweds enter and have their first dance!

The happy couple! Congrats Jon & Crystal!

We ate, we danced, we went into the photobooth and we had lots of fun!

Dancing with daddy is always fun! Everyone wanted to dance with her!

My little family :)

Then the next morning it was time for brunch and to head back home — but first – who doesn’t like to wear cousin ray’s hat? Lennox loved it!

Funny hat time!

Philadelphia Bound…

by Heather

We are headed to Philadelphia on Thursday morning – bright and early – our flight leaves at 6AM (which means we have to get lennox up at.. FOUR AM – That’s gonna go over well!) We are heading to Philly for a family wedding (for family i’ve never even met – but it’s Kyle’s cousin). This will be Lennox’s 3rd wedding – maybe the first she will actually get to see – she seems to make me leave everytime – we’ll see! All I know is that we are looking forward to checking out Philadelphia (I have been there once but just for an afternoon) and that Lennox is going to look extra cute in this:

We have most of one day to go sightseeing (we are staying in the West Conshohocken area) – so if you live in the area or have been there – give me some suggestions of what we can’t miss!

We may have to go here to see which is best!

Good Ol’ Cape Cod

Boats down by the Fishing Pier in Chatham

Other than going to the beach Lennox was able to experience some of the other things around town that I grew up with, as well as spend lots of time with Family.

One night we went to the a new concert series in the town park – it was at 6pm which was about the perfect time for a little one like Lennox. Like any concert – at the end of a song, everyone would clap – sounds uneventful right? Well every time this happened, Lennox would look around and she seemed to think everyone was clapping for her – and then would start clapping – it was super cute!! Her Great Auntie Diane saved the day as well and got her a beach ball – which she loved to play with all week while we were there!

Trying to eat the beach ball!

Chatham Band Stand in Kate Gould Park

We spent a lot of the mornings playing out on Grandma & PopPops deck and in the kiddie pool they had. She also loved to play with the bubble toy that PopPop got her – it was probably the best $3.99 ever spent on a toy. It worked better than anything and she learned really fast how to use it!

Playing with the block in the pool is just that much more fun!

I'm outta here...

Sprinkler Time

We had plenty of time to visit with all the family in the area. She even started to really WALK while we were there – especially for her Great Auntie Diane. Here is a cute video of one of the first times we did it (too bad Kyle wasn’t there to see it in person :( )

A few pictures of her with all the family she got to visit and play with:
